Candidates and their Statements

Alison Beidler

It would be an honor to continue to serve the BAA, the ensembles we support, the School of Music, the WCUAA, and WCU as your President for the 2018-2020 term. As a founding member of the BAA and a part of the leadership team for 6 years, I have had the privilege of being a part of building relationships and creating programming that has given the BAA the foundation it stands strongly on now. I embrace the challenge of continuously re-energizing the thousands of Bands Alumni eligible for membership, creating more opportunities for our active BAA membership to reconnect with the WCU Bands and the School of Music, and to represent and promote our WCUAA chapter with pride to the greater WCU community.

Kay Johnson

As shared by the BAA member who nominated her, "Kay is a hard working, organized person who has loved Ram Band since long before becoming a Ram! She has experience in band leadership from high school as a drum major to section leader several years in Ram Band. She has a cheerful heart for serving and caring for people in the band. When she commits to something, she is dedicated 100% to the best of her ability. Her enthusiasm with working with people in her job is infectious and would be a wonderful help for the good of the alumni band. Kay, as a 2nd generation Ram Band Alumni, dreams of encouraging more people of all ages to participate in alumni band functions in the future."

Sarah Puco

I would like to be more involved with the WCUBAA. I am currently finishing my second year as Secretary for Brandywine Roller Derby, a 501(c)(3) based out of Downingtown, PA. In 2019, I will be President of the league. During my tenure on the Board, I have implemented new processes and procedures to help us run more efficiently, as well as transition us to a different platform for internal communications. I have also served on our Events, Sponsorship, PR, and Production committees. I would love to bring all I have learned serving on the Board for my league to the WCUBAA, and be more involved with WCU in general. Thank you for your consideration!

Arden Harper

I nominated myself for this position because I feel like I'm a leader and that I thrive in environments where I can input my opinion. Additionally, I have a considerable amount of experience in groups that require an e-board in which extensive minutes to be taken (KKPsi, SAI, NAfME, my full time job, etc). Band is important to me and I want to see this group continue to thrive under my helping hand.

Joey Sita

I did not hesitate when I realized the Secretary/Treasurer position was open. To be honest, ever since graduation this past spring, I have missed the joys of the WCU music groups immensely. Homecoming helped me realize that. Seeing so many past graduates come back to play and reminisce has made me want to be a bigger part of it all. I know the exec team has made some huge changes to better the organization in recent years. The head count proves that. I want to help continue that progress with more annual events and greater outreach. I believe my skills as an accountant will greatly assist me in the Sec/Treas spot, as I have proficient experience with financial record keeping as well as business communications. That coupled with my love of the band programs, I cannot think of a better way to help give back to this group.
